Westchester Avenue Sewer Project
The existing 8” tree lawn sewers on Westchester Avenue were constructed in 1932. This project will consist of abandoning the front lawn sewers and extending the existing connections to the existing sewer in the street. This project will start at the intersection of Westchester Avenue and East 99th Street and proceeds easterly to East 105th Street.
The existing sewers are undersized and full of tree roots causing sewer backup into basements. The proposed sewer will reduce basement flooding.
Expected start of construction in 2008.
